Upcoming Webinar

TAKING CARE OF YOUR EMOTIONAL HEALTH:
What Parents Need to Know Pre- and Post- AdoptionFeaturing Karen Foli, nurse, author, and adoptive parent
Thursday, March 14 • 8-9 p.m. (EST)

When the months or years of adoption preparation and anticipation culminate in the moment of bringing a child home, sometimes eager expectations and reality collide. It is important for adoptive parents to prepare for the wide range of emotions they may experience after adoption and to know how to take care of their emotional health.
Karen Foli, RN, PhD, author of The Post-Adoption Blues, is an assistant professor at Purdue University where her research is focused on individuals whose lives have been touched by adoption. She is particularly interested in exploring transitions with new adoptive parents. Her goal is to strengthen adoptive families.

Birth Order:

What Difference Does it Make?

Location: Montgomery County Children and Youth Service Building; 1430 DeKalb

or she views life? Can it impact our parenting and how we parent our children? Can

simply being born first, second, or third be a predictor for future success? Come to this

training to explore the basic premises of Alfred Adler's theory of personality development

and the possible impact of birth order. Adoption professionals often suggest families not

is important and if a family chooses to adopt outside of their family's traditional birth

order, strategies on making the adoption and adjustment successful.
